This book tells the story of how the Great Northern Railway transported one billion tons of iron ore from the Northern Minnesota mines to Kelly Lake and on the ore docks at Allouez, Wisconsin on Lake Superior. As told by a former employee and illustrated with wonderful photographs(both color and black and white) of the locomotives, docks, ore boats, cranes, tracks etc. etc. Highly recommended for modellers, railroad buffs and Great Lakes shipping buffs.
